Does the balance on my Blockbuster gift card ever expire?
Gift cards that were purchased after November 6, 2007 never expire and the balance is not subject to any fees. If you have a card that has any language on the back of it that talks about the card expiring and it was purchased after the date shown above, than you can actually transfer the balance of that card to a new card that doesn't have that language on the back. What happens if I lose my Blockbuster gift card?
You should always treat your gift card like cash, however, if the card is lost or stolen, Blockbuster will work you to restore the balance on a new card. In order to replace the card, you will need the gift card number, the PIN and a receipt with the last balance of the card on it. Go into any retail location and fill out a report form and mail it into Blockbuster. If everything is in order, Blockbuster will mail you a replacement card. First, locate the 8 digit PIN on the back of your Blockbuster card. It is the number that you had to scratch off in order to reveal. If the card starts with 6016 or higher, then you can check the balance online. If the card number is lower than 6016, then you need to call 1-800-406-6843 to check the balance.

Iíd rather have the cash, can I redeem my gift card for cash?
In California, if the balance of your card is less than $10, you can trade your card in for cash at any Blockbuster store. However, if the balance is higher, you may not redeem the card for cash.
