Can I use my Ace gift card at the store and online?
At this time, their cards can only be used in retail locations. You may not use Ace Hardware gift cards to buy products online. If you want to do a little looking at www.acehardware.com, there's nothing stopping you, just make sure you local store has the products you're interested in before you get your heart set on something you've seen online.
Is there an expiration date for my Ace gift card?
It might be a little misleading because the Ace card is a loaded Visa gift card and as such, it has an expiration date on the card. However, that expiration date has no bearing on when you use the card. Ace will always honor a gift card, regardless of the expiration date and you can continue to use it until the balance is depleted.
Can I reload my gift card when my balance is low?
At this point, you cannot add money to an existing gift card. Once the balance is at $0, you will need to purchase a new gift card or go to www.GiftCardGranny.com to buy another discount gift card.
What happens if I lose my Ace gift card?
If you can't find your gift card, contact Ace Hardware at 1-888-749-1509. Make sure you have the gift card number and the original purchase receipt and they will issue a replacement card with the remaining balance on the lost card. If you do not have either of the required pieces of information, then the card unfortunately cannot be replaced.
I'm interested in getting the balance on my card, where can I find it?
You can obtain the balance of your card one of two ways. You can call Ace at 1-888-749-1509 242 hours a day, seven days a week and get the balance there, or you can hop in your car a head over to your local Ace Hardware and a member of the sales staff will look up the balance on your card for you.
Ace Hardware was established in Chicago in 1924 under the name Ace Stores, Inc. as a small group of wholesale hardware and paint stores. In 1931, the company officially changed its name to Ace Hardware, and despite the Great Depression, was able to successfully compete with similar stores and chains. In the late 1930’s the company began to develop unique product displays and assortments in order to promote their store with distinctive appeal. Later in the early 1940’s the hardware store actually began selling chickens, calling them “Ace Chicks,” which was a profitable turn for the company as they promoted patriotism and helped the response to rationing during World War II. Following the war, the company was doing so well that they had 133 stores nationwide, and launched the first Super Ace Hardware, which featured larger aisles, a more expansive product offering, and departmentalized self-service displays. Not even a decade later, the company more than doubled its number of stores, despite losing its last owner, and celebrated sales of over $24.5 million. In the early 1960’s, the company decided to move its headquarters to Bedford, IL, which centralized distribution and enhanced growth opportunities for the company. They also decided to span their product portfolio to include health and beauty products, candy, and greeting cards. In the early 70’s, the company was sold to its retailers for $6 million, and soon thereafter expanded internationally into the U.S.-owned territory of Guam. It was just before the turn of the decade that Ace initiated minicomputers and a program called PACE to help with tracking sales, procurement, and analyze purchase results. Since that time, Ace has grown to over 4,600 stores worldwide, gained former NFL coach and sportscaster John Madden as spokesperson, and hired Ray Griffith as president.
