Is your purse or wallet full of change after all the Black Friday shopping? Do you have PTO days to burn before January 1st?
After the hustle and bustle of one of the biggest shopping weekends, #GivingTuesday reminds us to give back to those less fortunate than us. After giving thanks and getting deals, this movement focuses on giving to charity. Through the power of social media, we all are able to spread the epidemic of generosity on this day. Bring change and positivity to your community and kick off the holiday season with a full heart. Here are some ways you can give back:
1. Donate your change/items: This is the simplest way to give back to charities that are near and dear to your heart. Every dollar helps non-profits with research costs, advocating, and supporting those in need. So this year, cash in your change jar and give back to your community. If you don’t have money to spare, donate old clothing, shoes and household items to local shelters and charities.
2. Volunteer: Have a few PTO days left this year? Reach out to local organizations and ask how you can help give back this year. Many food banks, soup kitchens, and charities welcome all the un-paid help they can get! You can also volunteer your talents like website design, grant writing, fundraising and more.
3. Spread the message: Feel good about what you’re doing to give back? Spread the word on social media and excite your followers! Use the hashtag #GivingTuesday to inspire others to participate in this day of kindness and remind them that they can give back 365 days a year.
Remember, anyone anywhere can make a difference. Invite your friends and family this holiday season to join the movement of giving back to those in need.
